Psoroptic mange severe condition farm animals; it highly and responsible for huge economic losses in many Infestation with Psoroptes has been reported all over the world animals, but none ever swine. A male weaner large white breed pig age 3 months weighing 10kg was presented lesions areas alopecia during routine visit by handlers. The found around thorax, abdomen ear regions pruritus, emaciation, wrinkling thickening heavy crust formation on ears, along curling tongue attending vocal loss noticed close observations. tentative diagnosis made following differential diagnosis: Allergic dermatitis, Bacterial Fly bite Hypovitaminosis. Further confirmatory done collection deep scrapping from which mites were demonstrated case psoroptic diagnosed. To best our knowledge this first demonstration pigs. affected animal treated using Ivermectin (1%) Long acting Oxytetracycline (20%). This may be pigs effective ivermectin control. More work should prevalence possible molecular characterization across globe to ascertain if there are other strains that can affect pigs.

Alternative treatments in the control of psoroptic mange in a sheep flock under organic production conditions

The aim of the experiment was to verify the efficacy of the treatment of psoroptic mange in a flock of Churra sheep farmed under organic production conditions, using alternative methods. One group, C Control (N=9), was given no treatment, a second group, TAH Antihomotoxic (N=10), was intramuscularly administered an antihomotoxic preparation every two days, thus receiving a total of seven inject...

A recombinant subunit vaccine for the control of ovine psoroptic mange (sheep scab).

Sheep scab, caused by infestation with the mite Psoroptes ovis, is highly contagious, causing intense pruritus and represents a major welfare and economic concern. Disease control strategies rely upon chemotherapy, however, sustainability is questionable due to issues of chemical residues, eco-toxicity and acaricide resistance. Control by vaccination is supported by demonstration of protective ...

Phylogeny and host specificity of Psoroptic mange mites (Acarina: Psoroptidae) as indicated by ITS sequence data.

We used molecular phylogenetic techniques to study the systematic relationships and host specificity of Psoroptes mange mites, which are pests of numerous domestic and wild ungulates. Phylogenetic analysis of DNA sequence data from the internal transcribed spacer region 1 (ITS1) of nuclear ribosomal DNA indicated that populations of Psoroptes are not host specific. Furthermore, the currently us...

Veterinaaria Pig Mange Control with Different Local Preparations

The realisation that arthropod moulting and metamorphosis are controlled by juvenile hormones led researches to suggest that such chemicals might be used both against plant pests and animal parasites (Robbins, 1972; Connat, 1988; Dryden, Neal, Bennette, 1989). As the naturally occurring juvenile hormones are unstable compounds in the environment, hundreds of synthetic preparations are prepared ...
